Cheyenne Meadows Dog Park
Location: Canoe Creek and Charmwood, Colorado Springs
Managed By: City of Colorado Springs Call: (719) 385-2489 Type of Park: Fenced
It's a pretty small park with no bells and whistles. It's simply a fenced in area next to a school playground. There are no trees or streams or anything fancy, but it is completely fenced. It is nice for letting your pup off leash to run in safety.
Palmer Park
Location: 3650 Maizeland Rd, Colorado Springs
Managed By: City of Colorado Springs Call: (719) 385-2489 Type of Park: Fenced Other Notes: There is drinking water in the summer but be sure to bring water in the winter for your dog.
A fenced in softball field that has a special entrance. Open one gate, close, then open another gate that actually goes into park. It has bags for pick-ups, and benches for owners. Also has human water fountain with dog bowl fountain on the side. Anywhere from 10-50 dogs running and playing together at one time. There are many different entrances, easiest is go south on Acadamy to Maizeland, take a right, then take a right into the entrance of Palmer Park (about one block), then go about one more block and Dog Park is on your right.
A few of the reviews I’ve read:
--I have often wondered if people leave ther dogs there to go on hikes. This is unacceptable. There is always going to be lazy owners. I take my Tanner on hikes with me and rarely go to the dog park. It is obvious after just 5-10 minutes he dislikes it there. There is a gropu of people who go nearly every morning but don't have control over the dogs. They treat them like humans and the dogs aren't socialized either.?Even though bear Creek is clear across town I make the effort to take him there if not hiking because it's not worth it at Palmer Park.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--Although the dog park has a lot of activity, it isnt worth it. There are many large, aggressive dogs with owners who dont pay any attention to how their dogs behave! This place is terrible! There is absolutely no shade, and nothing for the dogs to do, except maybe jump on a sad excuse of a log. If you want a great dog park, go to Bear Creek.

It's a short walk, but with amazing views! Other Notes: Unfenced - off leash dog area is east of Rock Ledge Ranch & south of Gateway Rd.
This park is rather small and does parallel 30th which can be busy. There are some nice trails and you can go on leash to view the Rock Ledge Historic Ranch. The backdrop of Garden of the Gods is amazing! Bring your own bags. It was well taken care of.
This park is probably only for the exceptionally well trained dog, since there are no fences to prevent dogs from running out of the dog park area. The evening we went there were tour buses unloading to tour the small museum that shares the same parking lot.

** Dog owners should be aware that City Code requires all dogs be on a leash while in city parks and on city trails. The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department does realize that dogs enjoy having areas where they can run and "burn off some steam," so we offer several off-leash areas. Please keep in mind that your dog must still be kept under control in off-leash areas. Also, pet owners are asked to please clean up after their pet. All neighborhood parks are equipped with "doggie-bag" dispensers and trash cans. Thanks for your assistance in keeping our parks clean and safe for all park patrons!
